So I got an offer for a transporter position with a logistics company out of Dallas, and they came in at 52K. I know the market's weird right now, entry level geo tech roles in Houston are sitting around 68 to 78K but if you know PLAXIS and can run a decent settlement analysis people will move you up faster. AI's not really touching the driving side yet but the routing software is getting smarter every quarter, so I'm wondering what number I should actually counter at. The thing is they need me to start in three weeks and I haven't driven professionally before, just my own truck for side hauls. Should I ask for 60K or is that too aggressive for a first offer in this market. I've seen some people say just take what they give you but I feel like there's room here, just dont want to blow it. What would you all say is a reasonable counter for someone with a geology background moving into transport, is 60K realistic or should I aim lower.
