So I left chaplaincy for community health coordination because the hours were more predictable and the pay was steadier. I still volunteer at my parish on weekends, which keeps me connected to the kind of one on one talks I liked before. Lately I’ve been looking at moving into therapy work and wondering if the LCSW certification is actually worth the effort. I’m weighing the cost of the program against the chance to work in a setting that feels more like my chaplaincy roots. Does anyone here feel it opened doors that a bachelor’s in psych wouldn’t? Or is it mostly just a box to tick for employers? Would love to hear real pros and cons from people who’ve gone through it.
