Solid trade if you like solving puzzles with metal
Spent seven years writing G-code and running setups in a mid-size shop outside Dayton. The work is steady and you go home with your brain actually tired in a good way. Decent for the region, better than most factory floor jobs. Best fit if you like figuring out how to make something tight and right, not if you need a social job. Lonelier than people expect. Fair warning, the ceilings are real. After year five I stopped learning new stuff and started feeling stale. No idea if that's still true everywhere.
