Якщо думаєш, що дерматолог це елегантний прийом у світлому кабінеті, де ти просто дививишся на обличчя і виписуєш креми, ну, певно, краще одразу йди в бухгалтерію. Реальність це прищ на підборідді підлітка, який не мився три тижні, і жінка п'ятдесяти з акне від гормонального збою, яка плаче через кожне фото в телефоні. Плюс ти весь день на ногах, а не сидиш в кріслі. Платня нормальна для великих міст, але в райцентрі ти заробиш стільки ж, скільки продавець у маркеті, тільки з дипломом. І ще, якщо не вмієш пояснити людині, що її висип не від нечистої крові, а від того що вона їсть шоколад між сном і стрессом, ти пропав як фахівець. Коротка розмова з пацієнтом важніша за будь який апарат.

Solid if you like the clinical side more than the cosmetic

Dermatology is one of those fields people romanticize because of the cosmetic work, but the bulk of the job is medical. Rashes, skin cancer screenings, autoimmune conditions. If that sounds boring to you, it's going to be a long road. The training path is long. Med school, residency, maybe a fellowship. You're looking at a decade before you're fully independent. The pay ends up decent for the region, but you carry a lot of student debt getting there. That part doesn't get talked about enough. What makes it good is the pace. Most appointments are short, you see a high volume of patients, and you go home without taking work with you. No call nights in most practices. That matters more than people think when you're choosing a specialty. The demand is steady. Skin cancer rates keep climbing and there are not enough dermatologists to keep up, especially outside major cities. If you're willing to work in a smaller market, you'll have options. One thing I'd flag, the cosmetic side pays better but it's a different job. Injectables, lasers, retail-style patient expectations. Some people love it, some find it draining. Figure out which side you actually want before you commit.
